What Works Cities Dashboard Redesign

For Bloomberg Philanthropies and RFA

WWC Dashboard in MacBook Pro Frame

The What Works Cities (WWC) program was launched by Bloomberg Philanthropies in April 2015 to help local city governments to use data and vidence to make more informed decisions. My role was to redesign their previous dashboard version that tracked training data for all city partners that work with Johns Hopkins University within the WWC program. This is an internal dashboard that is live in production.

Objectives

To meet the funder's request to capture success stories and positive highlights of the program in an engaging visual way. To also redesign the entire dashboard to make the training data statistics easier to read, filter and view.

My Roles

  • UI Designer
  • Front-End Developer

Tools that I used:

  • Moqups and Figma
  • Bootstrap, jQuery, Material Design

New Landing Page

To promote the training program results, I created a new landing page to capture testimonials and positive content through multimedia. I used animated quote carousels, video and concise quotes because I was told that the intended audience did not like to read!

Below shows the wireframe that I created for the landing page and then the prototype.
